David Hockney: a gigantic exhibition in Paris retracing over twenty years of career
David Hockney has undoubtedly left his mark on the contemporary art world with his bold, inimitable style for over sixty years. Famous for his colorful landscapes, vibrant portraits and ultra-graphic Californian pools, such as Pool with Two Figures, one of his most iconic paintings, the artist stands out for his bright colors and resolutely pop universe. His deeply autobiographical creations continue to appeal to art lovers across the generations.

In 2021, the artist had already made his mark with his exhibition A Year in Normandie at the Musée de l’Orangerie, where he presented paintings inspired by the Normandy countryside created during the confinement.

Five years on, the exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton focuses on the painter’s last 25 years. You’ll be able to admire his canvases inspired by Normandy, as well as his digital works conceived on iPad, a technique he adopted with impressive talent during the global pandemic. In all, no fewer than 400 works are on show at the foundation, making this the largest retrospective ever organized on the artist. In fact, the 11 rooms of the foundation are being used to house the artist’s most outstanding creations. That’s rare enough to be worth mentioning!
