This prestigious establishment, an icon on the Place Vendôme, is closing its doors.
One of the finest 4-star hotels in the City of Light has announced its closure.
Between Place Vendôme and the Jardin des Tuileries lies the prestigious Westin Paris. Inaugurated on June 6, 1878 as theHôtel Continental, the Westin Paris – Vendôme was designed by architect Henri Blondel, son-in-law of Charles Garnier, architect of the Paris Opera. The 4-star hotel was decorated by illustrious artists such as Mazerolle, Luminais, Laugée and Faustin-Besson. Today, the hotel boasts 428 rooms, including 80 suites, with breathtaking views of Parisian monuments such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

But sad news. This Thursday, April 24, on its Instagram account, the Westin Paris shared an announcement to its guests. “The Westin Paris – Vendôme will close its doors on April 27, 2025. We sincerely thank you for being part of our community and following our journey.” A succinct message, which says no more about the reasons for this definitive closure. And it didn’t take long for comments to pour in under the publication. “Very sad news” lamented some. While others shared their disappointment, they also spoke of the wonderful memories they had of the 4-star hotel. But there’s one question on the minds of all Westin Paris Vendôme fans: why?
“I can’t wait to find out what happens next,” adds one Internet user. And with good reason: the palace’s closure will give rise to a huge renovation project. Bought by Dubai Holding in early 2023, the Westin Paris Vendôme Mariott lived out its final months under the Westin banner. Since then, numerous industrial actions have been led by employees concerned about their future. Today, no fewer than 250 employees have been laid off…
However, the hotel is due to reopen in 2028, following work to bring the building up to 5-star standards. Estimated budget for this huge project: almost a billion euros.
