Every summer, the banks of the Marne regain a bit of their old-world charm—the atmosphere of open-air dance halls, afternoons by the water, and summer getaways. In Champigny-sur-Marne, this tradition lives on with the return of Champigny Plage, which will take over the Roland-Bouchier water sports center from July 4 to 19, 2026, for its 21st edition.
The major new feature of recent years has now become one of the event’s main attractions: swimming in the Marne River. At the historic site on Rue de la Plage, a temporary swimming area will once again be set up to allow visitors to cool off right in the river.
But Champigny Plage is more than just a few lounge chairs set up along the water’s edge. For over two weeks, the water sports center transforms into a true summer village with a program designed for all ages. Games, sports activities, family entertainment, relaxation areas, and festive events will set the pace for each day.
In the evenings, concerts, musical events, and a lively open-air café atmosphere take center stage, in a setting that reminds us why the banks of the Marne became, as early as the late 19th century, one of Parisians’ favorite leisure spots.

Water sports enthusiasts will also be able to take advantage of the site to experience the Marne in a new way. The water sports center already offers introductory sessions and outings in canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and rowing throughout the summer, and several special activities are typically included in the Champigny Plage program.
The icing on the cake: admission is completely free, and the festival remains true to the spirit that made its reputation: offering a breath of fresh air to residents of Val-de-Marne and the greater Paris region looking for a summer outing without having to travel far.
With this delightful event, Champigny can take pride in having put the Marne back at the heart of the Île-de-France summer! And with its beach, entertainment, and waterside setting, the 2026 edition could very well attract even more visitors.
