Film music is an integral part of cinema, and is now a genre in its own right. With just a few notes, it evokes powerful emotions, and each soundtrack is associated with a particular moment, scene or character. We continue to listen to them as we leave the cinema, and they have a unique quality that plunges us into another world.
The world ‘s greatest composers will be in the spotlight for evenings full of magic. Ludovico Einaudi and other international soundtrack maestros… You’ll also find all the enchantment of our favorite Japanese anime. It’s up to you to choose which film you’d like to see again(or rather, hear again)!
The concert not to be missed
Candlelight: The best of Joe Hisaishi
Candlelight concerts pay tribute to a cinematic genre straight out of Japan: anime music. And more specifically to the master of the genre, Joe Hisaishi, who notably accompanied Hayao Miyazaki on his films. Le Château Ambulant (The Moving Castle), Le Voyage de Chihiro (Chihiro’s Journey), Le tombeau des lucioles (The Tomb of the Fireflies ) and Princesse Mononoké (Princess Mononoke ) will be featured in classical format for a nostalgic concert.

Where to see film music concerts in Paris?
Blended with the gentle glow of flickering candlelight and sublime locations, this legendary music takes on an even more impressive dimension. The Maison de l’Océan, the Salon Gustave Eiffel, the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles and many others will host your evening.
But other concerts pay tribute to soundtracks across the capital, including Salle Pleyel, L’Olympia and Les Folies Bergère. Iconic film music has never ceased to move us.
How do soundtracks help tell stories in films?
Character emotion
When most emotions remain unspoken, music is one of the best ways to instill them in us. Behind every moment of sadness, doubt or intense joy, the characters are accompanied by soundtracks that help us understand them. Without even having to explain it to us, we know what the character is feeling, and we can feel empathy.
A sense of time and place
As well as giving us clues to the characters’ emotions, the choice of music to accompany images is not insignificant. Depending on the genre, the rhythm or even the origin of the music, these are all elements that situate us in time and space. Flamenco music reminds us of Spain, while a piece of electronic music is more often associated with a futuristic world.
If the 7th art occupies such an important place in our daily lives and even in our society, it’s thanks to its ability to take us to worlds far removed from our routine and reality. But cinema would be nothing without film music and the composers who accompany it, who with simple notes take us on a journey. And perhaps one of the best reasons to experience a Candlelight concert is to listen to these mytic tunes under candlelight in sublime settings.
