During the autumn, a strange ephemeral show will be orchestrated on the quays of the Seine. On Thursday December 5, Friday December 6 and Saturday December 7, the façade of the Musée d’Orsay will be illuminated by a beautiful night-time show concocted by students from the Gobelins school. The impressive video mapping will accompany the exhibition Caillebotte – Peindre les hommes, currently on view at the museum.
Ingenious video mapping illuminates the Musée d’Orsay
Since October 8, the Musée d’Orsay has been paying tribute to Caillebotte with its exhibition Peindre les hommes, and it’s been a great success with Parisians. So, as a climax to this fine cultural event, we’ll be treated to a superb video mapping on the façade of the museum’s incredible Impressionist collection.
Caillebotte en Lumière will be taking place this Thursday on the Seine-side façade of the museum. Free and open to all, this show will be on view from 5.30pm and will run in 18-minute loops throughout the evening. Designed by motion design students at the École des Gobelins, the show is inspired by Caillebotte’s work and aesthetic, while incorporating contemporary themes.
But the show won’t be confined to the visuals: an entire soundtrack has been imagined to make the experience even more immersive. To accompany the 11 visual sequences that will illuminate the museum, students from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris have composed an entire work, which can be listened to via a dedicated platform when the time comes.
In other words, a real adventure awaits you at this historic monument!
