Since January 1, 2025, the “bus-tram” ticket has cost 2.05 euros on the Navigo Easy pass, compared to 2.55 euros for the “metro-train-RER” ticket. A logical difference on paper, but one that caused confusion this summer. To avoid unpleasant surprises, Valérie Pécresse is considering introducing a single fare, raising the price of the bus ticket from 2.05 euros to 2.45 euros! Here’s what you need to know.
Bus Fare Hike in Paris: Toward Simpler Fares?
If you, too, have ever tried to validate your metro ticket on a bus, know that you’re not alone. As of January 1, 2025, transferring between buses and the metro was still possible with the same ticket, but since then the rules have changed and confusion reigns! This mistake could cost you dearly if you’re pulled over for a ticket inspection… 70 euros! In light of this, IDF Mobilités is considering several solutions, such as a single fare… But this could increase the price of not only bus tickets but also tram tickets, which were initially set at 2.05 euros…
A solution that would inevitably put a strain on those on tight budgets… Some organizations would prefer to see the Navigo Easy pass transformed into an electronic wallet, which would allow the exact amount to be deducted with each ride. For now, nothing has been decided yet! In any case, since late August, riders have been able to pay by credit card on all Parisian buses.
Please note: for those who may have forgotten, starting November 5, no tickets will be sold for public transit (whether by bus, metro, or tram), and starting December 15, metro tickets will no longer be accepted.
