If you love bread like we do, then you can’t miss this Parisian institution. Le Moulin de la Vierge is quite simply the oldest bakery in Paris. For almost 7 centuries now, this superb listed bakery has been delighting Parisians with its creations. You’ll discover a spectacular setting that’s absolutely breathtaking!
Le Moulin de la Vierge, a historic bakery
Since 1356, this Parisian house has been delighting young and old alike with its country-style breads baked in a wood-fired oven. Nestled near the Panthéon, in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, the bakery is not lacking in charm. Its gilded frontage sets the tone for a chic address, where quality is the order of the day.

Inside, you’ll be captivated by the listed Art Nouveau décor, which showcases traditional baguettes and rolls like precious jewelry on display. The floral decor is absolutely sublime, running from the walls to the ceiling! Between the remarkable moldings, the colorful old cement tiles, the large mirrors reflecting the good products and the landscapes painstakingly painted on ceramic, you simply won’t believe your eyes.

On the sweet side, the bakery offers bread, of course, but also viennoiseries, pastries, well-stocked sandwiches and just about anything else you can think of. The house specialty? La Paresseuse”, a signature sourdough baguette baked in a wood-fired oven. Its preparation requires time, patience and a good dose of know-how to master it fully. And believe us, it’s well worth the effort!
A popular bakery, found just about everywhere in Paris

While the parent company appears to be located at 64 Rue Saint-Dominique, you’ll find other Moulins de la Vierge in Paris, notably at 15ᵉ or 11ᵉ .
