Good news for pizza lovers in Paris: a restaurant in the 11th arrondissement has just earned a place in the 2025 Drink and Food Awards. A recipe from the Oobatz pizzeria is now among the best in the world according to Time Out magazine, which published a selection made by its journalists from around the globe in 2026.
In the 11th arrondissement, one of the best pizzas in the world
In this list dominated by institutions in Rome, Naples, London, and New York, Paris appears in 14th place thanks to this restaurant located near Rue Oberkampf. This recognition confirms the rise of the Parisian pizza scene, which is increasingly respected abroad.
Behind Oobatz is pizza chef Daniel Pearson. Having worked at Ten Belles, among others, he made a name for himself during pop-ups organized in 2022 at Rigmarole, where his natural sourdough dough had already caused a real craze. After this itinerant period, he opened his own pizzeria in the 11th arrondissement, in a minimalist space where you can watch the work behind the counter.
The house specialty is a Roman-inspired pizza. The thin, crispy dough undergoes a long fermentation process of about 36 hours, giving it a light and digestible texture. The recipes, numbered rather than given traditional names, evolve according to the ingredients and whims of the moment. There is a margherita base, versions with spicy salsiccia sausage, and more seasonal creations, sometimes topped with asparagus, meatballs, or Italian cheeses such as caciocavallo.
Already popular with Parisian foodies, this restaurant now has a new reason to attract crowds!
