Wondering where to find the best chocolate (or chocolatine) in Paris? Or even France? Stop looking! Following in the footsteps of France’s best croissant, here’s the latest winner of the Master national du meilleur pain au chocolat! And surprise… it’s in the Paris region!
And the title of France’s best pain au chocolat goes to…
This year’s prize for the best pain au chocolat goes to Fabrice Pottier, from Boulangerie-pâtisserie Maison Pottier, located in Marcoussis, Essonne. Second place went to a Parisian, Sophie Jullien, from Victoire Boulangerie. And third place this year went to Ivan Stork from the Aux Deux Epis bakery in Saint-Jean-les-Deux-Jumeaux, Seine-et-Marne.
This year’s competition was tough! Each candidate had to present 5 perfectly identical, pure-butter pains au chocolat weighing between 55 and 65g. Then it was the turn of the Confédération Nationale de la Boulangerie et Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Française to deliberate.
Nothing was left to chance! The pain au chocolat was judged on taste, shape, shine, doneness and fondant. And it was the Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Maison Pottier that met all the criteria this year!
