Smaller than those in Strasbourg or Colmar, the Kaysersberg Christmas market takes place in a historic courtyard and a few narrow streets in the town’s medieval center, and that’s what gives it its charm. This year, the village—dominated by the ruins of its castle—is, of course, hosting another edition of its market, which was voted the best in France in 2022 by RTL. Visitors can expect around thirty chalets and the presence of numerous artisans.
This year, you’ll need to plan your visit carefully, as the market will be open for just 12 short days. From November 27 to December 20, you can stroll through its aisles on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the four weekends of Advent.
About thirty market stalls set up at the foot of a medieval castle
As usual, the market will be held in the heart of the old town, in the courtyard of the Arsenal and behind the Church of Sainte-Croix. Under normal circumstances, the medieval setting is already highly picturesque, but when the lights illuminate the half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets, Kaysersberg takes on the atmosphere of a fairy tale. With its very special ambiance, the village was even voted the most beautiful village in France in 2017.

Far from the touristy Christmas markets, the association behind the Kaysersberg market is unique in that it carefully selects its artisans to ensure the quality of the items on display. Visitors can find wooden toys, ceramics, decorative fabric hearts, Advent wreaths, and Provençal nativity figures.
For food lovers, the market will, of course, live up to its reputation, and many Alsatian specialties will be on offer. Bredeles, kouglehopfs, gingerbread, and mulled wine will all be available, along with cheeses, honeys, jams, and herbal teas. These items will be available near the Town Hall square, where the farmers’ Christmas market will also take place, following the same schedule as the first one.

Another new feature for 2026: the free exhibition “Memories of Our Childhood Winters,” presented at the Salle de l’Arsenal. Vintage decorations, family traditions, and memories of past Christmases will be on display.
And good news for Parisians: the Kaysersberg Christmas market is easily accessible by train. From Gare de l’Est, it takes just 2 hours and 20 minutes to reach Colmar, followed by a short shuttle ride. All that’s left is to pick a weekend to enjoy one of the most magical Christmas markets in France!
