Every year, Time Out, with its editors based all over the world, unveils its ranking of the world’s coolest neighborhoods for going out, culture and good food. And for this 2024 vintage, there are some nice surprises in the selection, not least the appearance of a neighborhood in eastern Paris that many people love. So, which is the coolest corner of the capital?
And the coolest neighborhood in Paris is…
With its mix of cultures, its many addresses and its warm atmosphere, it’s Belleville that represents Paris in this international ranking. Of the forty or so neighborhoods in the world honored, the district in the east of the capital came in 20th place, making it one of the coolest in the world, according to Time Out.
To carry out its study, the media outlet surveyed its editors on the spot, asking them for their impressions of the atmosphere, restaurants and bars, cultural offerings and, quite simply, the local life of the neighborhoods in their respective cities. Belleville came out on top, representing the City of Light. On the plus side, they rightly emphasize its “dynamic, young and lively” aspect and its “popular vitality” and good addresses. As far as we’re concerned, if we could recommend a few addresses, we’d tell you about the Babel hotel, Le Jourdain restaurant or the brilliant Food Market, which is held every month.
But which district stands out from the rest? Some Parisians won’t like it, but it’s one corner of Marseille that’s been named the coolest district in the world! That’s right, it’s the Notre-Dame-du-Mont district that triumphs, ahead of Mers Sultan in Bali, Casablanca and Pererenan in Bali.
