An exhibition dedicated to gold… We love it! And it’s sure to please Paris Fashion Week attendees too .
Au fil de l’or, l’art de se vêtir de l’Orient au Soleil-Levant,a brilliant exhibition
This is one of the most beautiful fashion exhibitions in Paris at the moment. Since February 11, the “Au fil de l’or” exhibition has been lighting up the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris. And with good reason: the Musée Jacques Chirac is giving pride of place to gold, a precious material that bewitches, fascinates and spans the ages, without ceasing to shine. Travel from the Maghreb to Japan, and discover the origins of gold and its marriage with the textile arts. Much more than an exhibition, a treasure trove!
7000 years after its discovery, gold continues to fascinate…
While the Dolce & Gabana exhibition is in full swing in Paris, another equally sumptuous exhibition is well worth a visit. A brilliant exhibition dedicated to the world’s noblest precious metal, discovered almost 7,000 years ago. You’ll no doubt recognize it: gold! At the Musée du Quai Branly, the thousand-year history of gold in the textile arts invades the exhibition space. Flamboyant dresses by Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei, glittering kimonos, silks woven in gold… Costumes adorned with their finest ornaments parade before the astonished eyes of visitors.
All that glitters is not gold… except at the Musée du Quai Branly
And, as usual, the Musée du Quai Branly offers a rich program of events. Workshops for children are organized, to create an embroidered motif or take part in a storytelling tour “sewn with gold thread”. Visitors will also be treated to eye-popping performances, such as the Royal Ballet of Cambodia, or an evening “au fil d’or”. Culture buffs and art lovers alike, there’s something for everyone!
