Three years ago, the Grand Rex revealed a new face to Parisians. After months of renovation, the legendary cinema revealed its incredible new Art Deco façade. Today, it’s the turn of the lobby to receive a facelift. After further work, the institution voted “most beautiful cinema in the world” in 2025 is even more resplendent!
A new Art Deco-inspired lobby for the Grand Rex
While Art Deco is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary at MAD, one of its most beautiful emblems in Paris is in the news. To celebrate its 90th anniversary, the Grand Rex is continuing its metamorphosis, this time with the refurbishment of its lobby. Commissioned from ABP Architecte, already behind the incredible Salle Infinite, the aim of this project was to give a facelift to a space that has spanned the decades.
Gone are the red carpets and black bar. Now, the tones are more in keeping with the exterior façade. Gold, white and ochre are the order of the day, as are noble materials throughout the room. Marble and alabaster were chosen for the floors and walls, creating a beautiful harmony. And let’s not forget the new centerpiece of the ensemble, the magnificent bar, encased in a brass capsule.
In short, if it was already considered (and rightly so) one of the most majestic cinemas in the world, the Grand Rex raises the bar a little further with this new, refined decor.
