Fall is definitely here, and even though temperatures are still quite mild, we’re more than happy to curl up in a cozy café. That’s perfect, since Paris is full of great spots. Our favorite? Verlet! A beautiful spot on Rue Saint-Honoré that has been a gathering place for coffee lovers since 1880.
Verlet: Paris’s oldest coffee roaster
This coffee shop has always been the favorite spot for lovers of hot, comforting drinks. Since 1880, the shop has been roasting its own coffee beans, bringing out the aromas and flavors of each variety… and that’s clearly what makes all the difference. Here you’ll find specialty coffees to savor at any time of day , as well as premium blends from the Americas, the Caribbean, and Africa.
The exceptional quality of the beans caused quite a stir throughout the capital, and coffee became a cherished habit among nobles and intellectuals alike. In 1921, the roastery was transformed into an elegant and refined tea room, where you can still buy coffee, but also enjoy sweet treats on the spot to go with it.
Even today, its roasting facility located behind the Palais-Royal garden continues to transform every coffee bean into a drop of happiness. In addition to the thirty-odd coffees and forty-odd teas available to enjoy on-site or to go, Verlet offers a selection of sweet and savory treats that would be a shame to miss! Waffles, French toast, croque-monsieur, candied fruit, French pastries…Delights to savor throughout the day, whether for lunch or an afternoon snack.
