Good news for lovers of fine Parisian dining, slow-cooked dishes, and those spots with a soul: the Pudlo Bistro Awards are making their grand return to Paris on December 7. And this 2027 edition promises to be particularly generous, with eight awards designed to celebrate every facet of the bistro spirit.
Which one will be named “Best Bistro of 2027” in Paris?

There are the fine-dining restaurants. And then there are the bistros. The ones you keep coming back to without quite knowing if it’s for the food, the owner, the atmosphere, or that delightful feeling of being a little bit at home. Since 2022, the Pudlo Bistro Awards, conceived by Gilles Pudlowski, have celebrated precisely these kinds of places: lively, down-to-earth, authentic establishments that tell the story of Paris just as much as they feed its people. Paris Secret is, in fact, one of the event’s official media partners this year, alongside several organizations committed to preserving the bistro way of life.
On December 7, 2026, a new generation of winners will take the place of establishments such as Casimir, La Grille Montorgueil, Au Moulin à Vent, and Paris Seize. And once again this year, the competition aims to look far beyond the plate.
Eight awards to highlight everything that makes a great bistro

Because being a good bistro isn’t just about cooking well. The Pudlo Rungis Bistro of the Year Award will honor the establishment that best embodies this quintessentially French spirit, while the Pudlo Staub Chef of the Year Award will, of course, put the spotlight on the cuisine and the talent in the kitchen.
The competition will also honor “Art de Vivre & Tradition” with a trophy sponsored by the Association Bistrots & Cafés en France, as well as “Owner of the Year,” a figure almost inseparable from the history of Parisian bistros.
But Pudlo also wants to celebrate establishments with character. The Pudlo Tripiers de France Trophy for “Rough-and-Ready Bistro of the Year” will highlight generous, down-to-earth, and gourmet spots, while the Pudlo Noilly Prat Trophy for “Creative Bistro of the Year” will recognize those that know how to reinvent the rules without losing their soul.
Finally, two categories perhaps best capture what makes a bistro’s heart beat: the Pudlo Ateliers Nectoux Trophy for Tradition, which highlights the skills passed down from one generation to the next, and the Pudlo Trophy for Hospitality of the Year, because a smile, a kind word, or a table found for you at the last minute can sometimes matter just as much as what’s on your plate.
The print edition of *Le Petit Pudlo des Bistrots*, 2027 edition

A few days after the ceremony, in mid-December, the Petit Pudlo Guide to Bistros 2027 will return to newsstands and Relais de France locations. Inside: a selection of 200 of the best Parisian bistros, blending must-visit establishments, new additions, and neighborhood spots where you return as much for the great food as for that quintessentially Parisian atmosphere.
Behind this awards ceremony lies a broader vision: to champion bistros as a true part of our cultural and social heritage. The Association Bistrots & Cafés en France is continuing its efforts to have the bistro and café way of life recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Because, deep down, a bistro is never just a place to have lunch. It’s a conversation at the bar, a dish passed down through generations, a table where people gather, and sometimes even a little piece of Paris that we’d never want to see disappear.
