On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the Couesnon Dam will, for the first time, serve as the venuefor an open-air festival entirely dedicated to electronic music. Named Marée Électronique, the event is organized by the National Public Institution of Mont-Saint-Michel, which has given the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) carte blanche to create an original audiovisual production to be projected against the silhouette of Mont Saint-Michel.
Mont Saint-Michel: A Site Steeped in Electronic History
The event is part of a history that goes back further than it seems. Thirty-three years earlier, in 1993, Jean-Michel Jarre gave a concert—one that has remained famous—at the foot of Mont Saint-Michel. Since then, the site has hosted a number of one-off electronic music events, such as a performance by the musician Molécule or the Monumental Tour at the abbey. For the first time, Marée Électronique is presenting a format specifically designed as an open-air festival, with a lineup concentrated into a single evening rather than a one-off concert.
Maud Geffray and the INA: a dialogue between archives and live music
The evening kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with an opening DJ set by Marine Neuilly, a former member of the group Plastiscines and creator of the EP *You And The Night*, which blends French house, disco, and pop; she’ll return to the turntables later in the evening to close out the event. The highlight of the lineup is Maud Geffray, co-founder of the duo Scratch Massive, who will perform a two-hour set of melodic techno with cinematic textures.
The Couesnon Dam: A Unique Site for a First Attempt
The choice of the Couesnon Dam as the venue is no coincidence: this hydraulic structure, located at the foot of Mont Saint-Michel and designed to regulate the silting of the bay, offers a direct view of the abbey’s silhouette, without the access constraints inherent to the Mont itself.
