This weekend, we’re switching to standard time. In practical terms, that means we’ll have to set our clocks back one hour! But the good news is that this change will give us an extra hour of sleep. Be aware that this year, the time change is happening earlier than usual! Here’s why.
Winter time change: It’s this weekend
On the night of October 24–25, you’ll need to set your clock back one hour! Great news for sleepers, since this time change means an extra hour of sleep. But this year, the change is coming a little earlier than usual.

The reason? A 1998 European regulation aimed at harmonizing the schedules of EU member states. The switch to daylight saving time always takes place on the last Sunday in March, and the switch to standard time always takes place on the last Sunday in October. This year, the last Sunday in October falls on the 25th (since the 31st is a Saturday).
To avoid too much disruption to your sleep, doctors recommend gradually adjusting your bedtime leading up to October 25!
