This winter, Paris takes a trip to Switzerland with the inaugural Marché de Noël de La Villette, already on its way to becoming one of our favorites. Indeed, the figures speak for themselves, with no fewer than 30,000 visitors in the first weekend of the inauguration. Until December 28, 2025, the Esplanade de la Fontaine aux Lions will be transformed into a Christmas market in Paris. Not just any Christmas market, but one that combines local crafts and gourmet specialities from every continent, with the added bonus of a Zurich fondue chalet and attractions such as an ice rink and carousel. All in a convivial atmosphere, perfect for the festive season.
A Christmas market like no other with designer nuggets
Much more than just a market, the Place de la Fontaine aux Lions was transformed into a veritable Christmas village, with over 100 chalets. Among the various stands, you’ll find Swiss and French designers (renewed every week to make sure you never go round in circles). Designers like Atelier Mahd and its pure lines, 100% Girl Power ceramics by L’atelier de Brume, pretty decorations by La Maison Nad Yut, cuddly clothes by Mes Petites Laines, cosmetics by Atelier Sapoé, handmade jewelry by Perlestine, cute illustrations by Moi Ce Que J’aime, adorable ceramics by Céramicafé Geneviève… There’s plenty to go around for original Christmas gifts.
Food and drink
After a bit of shopping, you’re invited to indulge in a range of gourmet chalets from all over the world. Ramen from Neko Ramen, burgers from MELT, Tibetan momos from Tenz, Indian specialities from Kuna, Levantine delights from LEVEN, tacos from El Cártel del Taco, Greek dishes from Oh My Greek!, bentos from 4m2, Portuguese desserts from Pastel de Nata… A world tour of flavours guaranteed! But if you prefer to eat local (and therefore Swiss), a Zurich fondue chalet warmly opens its doors to you, with a menu signed by Michelin-starred Chef Benjamin Plsek, who offers several variations on traditional recipes revisited in his own style!
After strolling through the various chalets, make a stop – a must – at the guinguette de Noël to warm up with a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate, and dive headfirst into the festive spirit. Garlands, soft music… it’s like being there!
With its skating rink, its Ferris wheel – from which you can admire the Eiffel Tower – its pretty carousel, and its mini-village with numerous activities and workshops (full program here) that punctuate the market, the Place is transformed into a veritable playground! Cartomancy, stilt-walking shows, concerts, choirs, storytelling, clowns, creative workshops to make or personalize your Christmas gifts... It’s all fun and games. In short, the Marché de Noël de La Villette is THE ideal outing for couples, friends or family, for a magical getaway without leaving Paris.
