For the love of the game, we’ve defied the winter chill that’s slowly settling in the capital to set off on a luminous odyssey through the forest with the Lumières en Seine trail. Spoiler: we LOVED this experience, which catapulted us straight into the festive atmosphere of Christmas, with its gourmet chalets, tinsel and a thousand and one lights adorning the park’s trees.
Our verdict on Lumières en Seine
We put on coats, scarves and hats and take line 10 to the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud. We enter through the Clémenceau gate and walk along the banks of the Seine to the Pont de Saint-Cloud. As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the luminosity that radiated from the unrecognizable site. For the occasion, and as every year at the same time, the green setting has been transformed into a two-kilometre-long showcase of light.
A total of 25 illuminated tableaux are presented, featuring luminous sculptures, aurora borealis, celestial curtains, magical fountains, fiery pools and giant anemones. Against a soundscape backdrop (which adds to the fairytale dimension of the site), we venture among the Melodic Trees, cross paths with the Wood Guardians, activate luminous spheres by the sheer force of our arms, fall back into childhood aboard the Grand Carrousel, marvel at the swirl of colors in the hypnotic Dance of the Rings… The highlight of the show: the Palais des Eaux and its new show at the Grande Cascade, which brings this enchanting stroll to a close.
After the effort, the comfort: gourmet chalets with warm perfumes awaitus. Here, we enjoy sandwiches dripping with raclette cheese and regressive waffles, before getting back on the train for home, still full of stars in our eyes. In short, with friends or family, this is the experience you absolutely must try out this winter!
