Cyril Lignac certainly knows how to appeal to our gourmet stomachs. After the recipe for frangipane galette des rois, or chocolate mousse, here’s a new sweet that’s easy to reproduce at home: waffles. Very popular in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, the waffle originated in Brussels. We now love them both sweet and savoury! Discover the chef’s step-by-step recipe for a delicious treat!
List of ingredients for Cyril Lignac’s waffle recipe (for around 10 waffles)
- 250 g flour
- 11 g baking powder (equivalent to one sachet)
- 40 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 50 cl semi-skimmed or whole milk
- 50 g soft butter
- 1 pinch salt
Steps to prepare Cyril Lignac’s waffle recipe
1. Mix the flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl.
2. After beating the two eggs, add them to the mixture and mix well.
3. Add the milk a little at a time, stirring vigorously with a whisk. This will prevent lumps from forming in the dough!
4. Once the dough is smooth, pour in the melted butter and add a pinch of salt before mixing well.
5. Leave the film-coated dough to rest for at least 1 h in the fridge before baking! The dough should be smooth and thicker than pancake batter!
6. Pour in the batter, then close the waffle tin. It should be well oiled before hand. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes for best results!
7. Leave to cool for one or two minutes before serving. Add jam, spread or other delicacy on top! They’re ready to eat!
Tip: you can freeze the rest of your waffles in an airtight bag to enjoy later! No waste here.
