Following exhibitions dedicated to Dolce & Gabbana and Rick Owens, Paris is preparing to welcome a new heavyweight of the fashion world. Starting June 5, 2026, the Musée Maillol will open the doors to its “Gianni Versace Retrospective,” a major exhibition dedicated to one of the most influential designers of the late 20th century.
On view in the 7th arrondissement through September 6, 2026, this retrospective promises an immersive journey into the flamboyant world of the Italian fashion designer, who passed away in 1997. The exhibition is all the more anticipated as it is the first major French retrospective dedicated to Gianni Versace since 1986.
For the occasion, nearly 450 pieces will be on display. Visitors will be able to discover original creations, iconic silhouettes, accessories, sketches, photographs, as well as videos and rare interviews chronicling nearly twenty years of design.

It is impossible to mention Versace without talking about his instantly recognizable style. Baroque prints, vibrant colors, ancient influences, unapologetic glamour, and sculptural silhouettes: the designer left an indelible mark on the 1980s and 1990s. His fashion shows helped usher in the era of supermodels and transform fashion into a true global cultural phenomenon.
The exhibition has already been a major success during its previous European stops, notably in London, Berlin, and Málaga, before arriving in Paris.
Beyond fashion, this retrospective also promises to be a journey through an entire era. An era when runways became spectacles, when designers were true stars, and when Versace imposed a bold vision of luxury, blending opulence, sensuality, and pop culture. See you there starting June 5!
