Right in Paris, you can climb high among the trees and end the outing with a long zip line. Évasion Verte has set up shop in the playground area of the Parc Floral, in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, with four courses that gradually ascend to 12 meters. It’s a rather unexpected activity in the capital, open to children ages 6 and up as well as adults.
Four tree-climbing courses taking you up to 12 meters
After a brief orientation and being fitted with equipment, participants then have two hours to make their way through the various courses, all equipped with a continuous safety line. The concept is simple: the carabiner remains attached to the cable throughout the entire climb, including between stations.
The first course stays close to the ground, with eleven obstacles set at a height of two meters. Suspended barrels, rope bridges, and beams help you get your bearings before moving on to the next course, which climbs to 4.50 meters and includes a tightrope crossing and a rolling vine.
A third course reaches seven meters and includes a Himalayan bridge as well as a large net. The last one raises the bar much higher: fourteen challenges, giant swings, a climbing net, and several long zip lines installed up to 12 meters above the ground. The progressive design allows participants to choose their own level without having to tackle the most impressive sections right away.
Here—and this is part of the venue’s charm—the platforms are located in one of Paris’s main botanical gardens, just a short walk from the bonsai collections, the Japanese garden, and the vast lawns of the Parc Floral. Built on former military grounds, the park also features themed gardens and collections of irises, camellias, and rhododendrons.
Évasion Verte is open to the public from February through November on Wednesdays, weekends, and holidays, as well as every day during school breaks. It’s accessible via the Château de Vincennes metro station or the RER A line, followed by a 15- to 20-minute walk from Line 1. Between April and September, you’ll also need to factor in the admission fee for the Parc Floral.
And after spending two hours among the nets and zip lines, all you have to do is walk down a few paths to reach the gardens, ponds, and expansive lawns of the Parc Floral. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon!
