We tested The FRIENDS™ Experience for you …
Head for Galeries Montparnasse, 22 rue du Départ, for a flashback to the 90s. We’re immediately catapulted back into the sitcom’s world thanks to its oh-so-recognizable decor: the famous orange sofa, Rachel and Monica‘s purple door with yellow frame, Joey’s leather recliner… All on two floors. We get out our smartphones and take selfies absolutely everywhere!
There’s no shortage of photo opportunities, and sometimes it’s the experience staff who offer to immortalize the moment. What’s more, we receive a QR code at the start of the activity and at each spot, enabling the staff to scan it and take our picture. At the end, you get one free, and you can buy the others.
Of course (and this is the charm of the experience), we can replay some absolutely iconic scenes from the series, such as the looooong debates in Rachel and Monica’s kitchen, the foosball games, the naps on Joey’s sofa, the technical pivot on the stairs (we didn’t expect it to be so hard), or even the credits and its fountain, which opens the show. “I’ll be there for youuuuu!”, memories come flooding back.
… And we loved it!
But that’s not all: a whole section of the exhibition is dedicated to props and costumes: the anteater costume from the episode where Ross decides to introduce Ben to the Jewish holiday Hannukah, or the giant plush Hugsy the penguin from Joey’s episode “The One Who Finds Out”. It’s also an opportunity to learn new anecdotes that you might not have known! We thought we knew everything there was to know about the show, but we’ve discovered some backstage secrets!
To complete the immersion experience, we went to the boutique to buy ourselves a souvenir(we couldn’t resist). We were surprised by the sheer quantity of merchandising! T-shirts, mugs, puzzles, books… It’s simple, we wanted to buy everything.
