Gjon’s Tears as the Count of Monte Cristo and two golden voices
Having gained international recognition for his third-place finish at Eurovision 2021 with the song “Tout l’univers,” Swiss singer Gjon’s Tears takes on the lead role ofEdmond Dantès, who becomes the Count of Monte Cristo. His already well-established fame is drawing an audience to the show that doesn’t necessarily attend this type of production: a rare asset for a production that aims to reach new audiences.
At his side, Philippine Lavrey plays Mercédès, Edmond Dantès’s childhood sweetheart. Carla Dona, who plays Eugénie, rounds out a star-studded cast designed to take the show beyond the circle of musical theater enthusiasts.

A renowned choreographer for a top-notch production
On the choreography front, *The Legend of Monte Cristo* relies on an industry leader: Nicolas Huchard, a choreographer who has worked alongside Madonna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Christine and the Queens, among others. His involvement elevates the show to a level of excellence rarely seen in French musical theater, blending hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary dance to serve a resolutely visual narrative.
The soundtrack was composed specifically for the show. Rather than drawing on an existing repertoire, *The Legend of Monte Cristo* features an original soundtrack. Furthermore, the production has been conceived as an immersive visual narrative, with Serge Postigo’s direction centered on a primarily visual storytelling approach: lighting effects, immersive sets, and choreography. It’s sure to reinvent the musical genre!
