No more connections to Berlin by train! From December 2024, there will be a direct daytime connection between Paris and the German capital. The two cities will be linked by German InterCity Express trains, and the journey will take 8 hours. A daily connection from €59!
A daytime rail link between Paris and Berlin soon available
In December 2023, the night rail link between Paris and Berlin made a comeback after a 9-year absence, before being interrupted last August due to construction work. But on Tuesday, a big announcement was made for those who usually travel between Paris and Berlin. From December 2024, high-speed trains will run between the two capitals, serving Strasbourg, Frankfurt and Karlsruhe stations.
Every day, departing from Gare de l’Est, trains will leave their platforms at 9:55 a.m., arriving at their destination at 6:03 p.m.. For the return journey, they will leave Berlin at 11:54 a.m. and arrive in Paris at 7:54 p.m. With a capacity of 444 seats, 75% second class and 25% first class, these trains represent a fast and comfortable option for both business and leisure travellers.
This operation is part of the Franco-German cooperation established in 2007, and also a fine initiative in favor of greener mobility. Indeed, while the Paris-Berlin journey emits 200kg of CO2 per person by air, the emission is 2kg by rail.
So, if you’re planning to travel to the German capital from December onwards, this is the perfect solution!
