To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its inauguration, the Musée d’Orsay is launching festivities at the end of January. With its rich history, the former station will host an incredible immersive show combining art, science and music in the form of a giant video mapping. An opportunity to rediscover the monument after a visit to its formidable collections.
An immersive show to celebrate 40 years of the Musée d’Orsay
Home to the world’s largest Impressionist collection, the Musée d’Orsay will be transformed into a “theater of the living” for its anniversary. Imagined in collaboration with 15 biology researchers, Quelques secondes d’éternité will bring the museum’s glass roof and tympanum to life through an immense video-mapping exercise. The show brings together actors, musicians and scientists.
On two exceptional evenings, January 24 and 25, visitors can take part in this sensory journey narrated by Judith Chemla. The walls will come to life thanks to projections based on cellular biology, and the whole show will be accompanied by a harp and percussion string ensemble conducted by Solrey. In short, a true feast for both eyes and ears.
Today one of France’s most important museums, Orsay once again offers a rich program that goes beyond its exhibitions. After its curious nocturnes for the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, the cult venue celebrates a new milestone with the general public – and everyone can join in!
