Since the beginning of the year, the weather has been driving us crazy. We’ve had snow, then a warm spell, and now a wave of rain sweeping across France… It’s impossible to understand! However, weather experts are finally beginning to reach a conclusion on the matter: yes, the cold could make a strong comeback this weekend. But it won’t come alone, as a few snowflakes are expected in the plains, mainly in the northern half of the Paris region. Will we have a white Valentine’s Day? We’ll tell you everything.
A snowy Valentine’s Day in Paris? What the experts say
As we mentioned a few weeks ago, the country has been experiencing a warm spell for several weeks now . This is mainly due to currents from the Atlantic Ocean, which have kept temperatures above seasonal norms. Unlike our German neighbors, the polar vortex has not reached France, giving Parisians a bit of a break. But this weekend, temperatures are expected to drop sharply. According to meteorologists at Météo-Paris, a vast low-pressure area located between the British Isles and northern France will bring in polar maritime air….

This cold snap is expected to bring a sharp drop in temperatures and some snowflakes, particularly in the Île-de-France region, where Essonne, Yvelines, Val-d’Oise, and Seine-et-Marne are likely to be particularly affected. According to the Météo channel, temperatures are expected to drop by around ten degrees this weekend. The first snowflakes could fall as early as Saturday morning in the northern and western departments of Île-de-France and are expected to continue until Sunday.
These snowflakes will be short-lived, however, as rain is expected to return soon after.
snow valentine’s day Paris
While the arrival of the first snowflakes of February could well be confirmed this weekend, don’t expect a beautiful, lasting blanket of snow like the one we saw in January. According to Météo France, this snowfall will last for two to three hours before temperatures rise and the rain returns… In fact, starting next week, temperatures are expected to rise again and hover between 10°C and 15°C across the country… When we tell you we don’t understand anything anymore!
