There are addresses in Paris that you pass by a thousand times, and then one day you push open the door a little by chance, attracted by the front. Sometimes it’s a disappointment, and sometimes… it’s a real discovery. Such is the case with Kuisinistan, a small restaurant that brings the flavors ofAnatolia (the Asian part of Turkey, for the uninitiated) to the lively Sentier district. Here, the atmosphere is simple and warm, and you immediately sense that you’re in for a good meal.
Two rooms, two atmospheres: the Bosphore in Paris
What’s original about this place? It’s divided into two parts, rather like the Bosphorus separating two continents. On the left is the kitchen and takeaway, perfect for grabbing a tasty sandwich on the go. On the right is the restaurant, where you can sit back and enjoy your meal.
The first thing that stands out is the welcome. The team is attentive to your every need, and everyone has their place, proudly displaying sweatshirts with a different little cat for each job. But let’s talk about the essentials: the plate. We tested three starters to whet our appetites. First, the Börek, those famous crispy cigars with cheese, simply delicious. Then there’s theAtom, a creamy yoghurt spiked with spicy butter, in which you can dip your bread without moderation. And finally, the İçli Köfte (bulgur dumpling stuffed with meat), which is an absolute must if you go there.
As for dishes, it’s impossible to missIskender, the emblematic sauce dish with its thin slices of melting meat and generous tomato sauce. A true comfort dish , without being heavy. For lovers of quality street food, the marinated chicken sandwich is a perfect option. The chicken has that grilled flavor we love, the fries are crispy, and the whole thing is generous. It’s simple: at Kuisinistan, the dishes do what we ask of them: they’re good and generous.
Maybe you’ll like it too… After such a tasty lunch in the 2nd arrondissement, take the opportunity to stroll through the covered passages or up Rue Montorgueil, a Parisian classic for a digestive stroll.
This is the kind of hidden restaurant we’re happy to share. Authentic cuisine, fair prices and a real neighborhood soul.
