As you know, last July, the magnificent Fontainebleau Forest was ravaged by a very violent wildfire, burning more than 2,000 hectares of forest… This represents about 10% of the forest area. But the good news is that, as of a few days ago, casual hikers and Sunday walkers can finally explore 80% of the forest.
80% of the Fontainebleau Forest Reopens
This violent fire, which occurred between July 12 and 14 and was of an unexpected magnitude, deeply scarred the surrounding flora and fauna. After weeks of waiting, 80% of the massif has finally reopened to the public. Certain climbing areas will also be accessible again, much to the delight of climbers.
Unfortunately, and as might be expected, the 2,000 hectares affected by the flames, as well as the buffer zones established near the fires, will remain off-limits for at least a year… As a reminder, the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are still under investigation…
