In November, Christmas lights will begin to dazzle us and immerse us in the magic of the holiday season… But that’s not all. Indeed, as it does every year, Aid to the Church in Need will illuminate several monuments in Paris in red from November 15 to 22. A gesture that is at once powerful, poetic, and deeply moving—a tribute to persecuted Christians—to be seen each evening for a week.
“Red Week” in Paris: Illuminated Monuments to Raise Awareness and Foster Solidarity
For the 11th consecutive year, the organization Aid to the Church in Need will pay tribute to the approximately 400 million persecuted Christians around the world during Red Week. A special week dedicated to solidarity, raising awareness, and praying for all those who cannot freely practice their faith in their own countries.
Starting November 15, when the sky is at its darkest, several monuments will be illuminated in red every ten minutes until midnight. These include Notre-Dame de Paris, the Sacré-Cœur, the Pont Neuf, and the Obelisk at the Place de la Concorde.
For your information, this “Red Week” is taking place not only in Paris but also in other cities around the world: Christ the Redeemer in Rio, the Colosseum in Rome, and other religious and iconic monuments worldwide will also be illuminated in red in support of the martyrs throughout the week.
