The Promenade Pereire is a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a place akin to a small, lush paradise. When spring arrives, this bucolic gem is adorned with countless roses. And you may not know this, but this enchanting setting is located along the route of an old railway line…
The Promenade Pereire is a wonderful green corridor that runs through part of Paris’s 17th arrondissement. In fact, its name pays tribute to the Pereire brothers, Jacob Emile (1800–1875) and Isaac Pereire (1806–1880), two parliamentary bankers who founded Crédit Mobilier in 1852. Deeply involved in the development of the 17th arrondissement in the 19th century, they notably financed the Auteuil line, a former railway line that was once part of the Petite Ceinturenetwork .Today, the old railway infrastructure has given way to the idyllic Promenade Pereire, which offers walkers a breath of fresh air.
A little haven of peace in the capital
Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, this little haven of peace— beloved by locals but still unknown to many tourists and Parisians — has incredible charm. In spring, its stunning rosebeds are its main attraction, particularly the Ronsard rose, renowned for its enchanting fragrance and delicate shades of pink and white.
