Princess Mononoke, a fantastic ecological tale
For those lucky enough to discover Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece for the first time on the big screen, here’s the story (guaranteed spoiler-free, we promise).
This fantasy epic follows the adventures of a young prince, Ashitaka, who decides to leave his village in a hurry after being struck by a curse. On his journey, he meets San, aka “Princess Mononoké”. A young woman raised by wolves, she fights against the neighboring town of Iron Town. The town totally ignores moral laws and plunders the natural wealth of the surrounding forest. The destinies of Ashitaka and San will be closely linked…
For the moment, only North American audiences will be able to rediscover Princesse Mononoké in theaters from March 26, 2025. While no date has yet been set for a French release, no doubt an announcement will be made in the near future.
