This Thursday, April 2, a magnificent full moon will light up the sky. Much brighter than the others, and a bit larger too, it’s called the pink full moon because of spring and the flowers blooming in the fields… So it has nothing to do with its color, which will remain almost identical to what you’re already familiar with… Yet this Thursday’s full moon will still be magnificent! Here’s how to spot it!
A pink full moon to celebrate spring
This Thursday evening, a full moon will be visible in the sky, everywhere in France… But contrary to its name, it won’t be pink… In fact, this name comes from Native American traditions, which named the moon’s phases according to the seasons.

But why “pink”? It refers to a flower that blooms in the prairies of North America during this time of year. This flower, tinged with a pretty pink hue, symbolizes the return of spring. A name adopted by NASA and still in use today.
A sparkling full moon visible to the naked eye
The advantage of this full moon is that it will be large and bright enough to be seen without a telescope. To get the best view, find a spot free of light pollution and face east. That’s where it will be brightest. Finally, if you want to see it at its peak… get up early! It will be at its absolute best at 4:11 a.m.
