As it does every summer, the RATP is upgrading its network by carrying out various renovation projects. Among the lines affected are Line 8, Line 12, and the RER A, B, and D lines. And unfortunately, the replacement lines or those following a similar route are likely to be packed… Here’s an update.
Two metro lines will be overcrowded this summer in Paris…
Until August 16, expect a real nightmare on public transit… In fact, due to major construction work affecting, in particular, the RER B and D lines heading toward Paris, lines 4 and 5 are likely to experience unprecedented crowds.
The RER B will not be running between Bourg-la-Reine and Gare du Nord from July 25 through August 6. Similarly , service will be suspended between Mitry-Claye / Aéroport CDG2 and Gare du Nord. For the RER D, the situation is much the same: no trains will run between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon from July 25 through August 16.
Without these trains, passengers will naturally turn to Lines 4 and 5. These lines are likely to become severely overcrowded, particularlybetween Gare du Nord and Châtelet on Line 4 and betweenGare du Nord and Bastille on Line 5.
The RATP recommends using other lines, such as lines 7 and 14, the RER E, or buses 38 and 91. Good luck to everyone!
