It was one of the symbols of these Games. The Olympic cauldron left the skies over Paris last September… Good news for all its fans, however, as it is set to light up the City of Light once again for several weeks from June 21… we’ll tell you all about it!
The Olympic cauldron is back!
After welcoming over 270,000 spectators in a month and a half, the Olympic Cauldron finally bowed out of the Tuileries Gardens last September. It took five full days to deflate the enormous balloon before all the helium was removed. The idea was to recover at least 80%, so that the balloon could be used again. A fine way of perpetuating the eco-responsible mission of this 100% electric balloon.
But from June 21 to September 14, the cauldron will once again be lighting up the Parisian landscape. And it won’t be quite the same… both the ball and the ring have been redesigned.
A return for three summers that costs a lot of money…
Still 100% electric, the cauldron will soar 60 metres above our heads until around 10.30pm. As during the Olympic Games, you’ll need to book your time slot online to get a closer look at the vasqueparis2024.fr website. The site will notify you of the program and any cancellations due to capricious weather…
However, unlike last year, the Olympic cauldron will be switched off at night after the last flight time slot. This grand return comes at a price… 2.5 million euros per summer all the same. Installation is scheduled for the end of May!
