Launched last year, the project for a “Musée de l’Élysée” came to fruition on Wednesday July 24. In fact, the President of the Republic inaugurated this new venue, a combination museum, boutique and tea room, set up just opposite the palace. The Program features a truly immersive tour of over 600 square meters, highlighting the entire history of the presidential palace.
The Musée de l’Élysée now open
Inaugurated on the gong 48 hours before the start of the Olympic Games the Musée de l’Élysée will be able to welcome all the tourists who flock to the capital, as well as Parisians with a passion for presidential history. In a setting worthy of an official palace, a detailed scenography awaits you. Like a small cabinet of curiosities, you’ll find a selection of objects, documents and other diplomatic gifts in this beautiful space. As for the museum space, perhaps the highlight of the show is the faithful reproduction of the Salon Doré, the head of state’s official office since 1958.
In the boutique, the French art of living is promoted, with a selection of items made in France, from pétanque balls to four-colour pens. And French tradition will also be present in the mouth-watering pleasures, as a real tea room has also been inaugurated. Upstairs, you can sample the creations of the Élysée’s pastry chef, while sipping a hot drink.
All in all, your visit will take you deep into French history and tradition. And best of all, it’s totally free!
