The Noise Observatory and AirParis have produced a map of air and noise pollution throughout the Paris region. For the first time, you can see at a glance where the most polluted areas of Paris and its inner suburbs are. We tell you all about it!
A map showing the most polluted and noisiest cities in the Paris region
Not surprisingly, hypercentral areas are the most affected by air and noise pollution. Busy arterial roads, such as boulevards and ring roads, are the most affected by these problems two forms of pollution. What’s more, Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly airports play a major role in this activity. Areas within 200 m of airports are also well affected.
Conversely, the situation is improving in some areas around the bois de Vincennes boulogne, but also certain districts in south-west Paris.
In all, 487 communes in the Paris region are particularly affected by these two types of pollution. Of these, 38% are Île-de-France municipalities. The exposure of 9.7 million people in the Paris region to these pollutants exceeds WHO recommendations… To see the map, it’s this way.
