Three days of cinema in the streets of a medieval town: the Paradisio Festival returns to Moret-sur-Loing from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 2026, for its seventh edition. With the start of the school year just a few days away, this year’s festival is centered around a theme that appeals to a broad audience: “Film and Music,” featuring a free program spread across several venues in the historic center.
The highlight will take place Saturday evening at the Pré de Pins: at 9:30 p.m., John Landis’s *The Blues Brothers* will be screened outdoors, preceded a few minutes earlier by a conversation with François “Shanka” Maigret, guitarist for No One Is Innocent and a composer who has worked on several soundtracks. This is a logical choice for this edition, which explores the connections between film and music: the film features, among others, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown, and John Lee Hooker.
A free film festival in downtown Moret-sur-Loing
Paradisio won’t be limited to screenings, as a film concert featuring a silent film by Max Linder will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité church, accompanied live by musician and composer Éric Jacquemin. The program also includes an exhibition dedicated to film instruments and scores, screenings of amateur archival footage with Cinéam, discussions on film composition and dubbing, as well as workshops for children.
On Saturday afternoon, a flamenco performance set to movie soundtracks is also scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the Town Hall square. Film-inspired sets, street performers, street entertainment, and an open-air dance hall will round out the weekend.
Founded in 2018, Paradisio takes a rather different approach from major festivals: bringing classic films back to the streets and using the setting of Moret-sur-Loing as an integral part of the event.
