Stranded without Wi-Fi or Google: this hilarious comedy drops a Gen Z kid into a ’90s teen bedroom

Imagine yourself cut off from the world, without Wi-Fi, without a smartphone, and stuck right in the middle of a 1998 teenager’s bedroom. That’s the wild experience offered by Millennial Survival Paris, the new immersive theatrical comedy taking the capital by storm. In this ultra-authentic retro setting, where devices can’t be swiped with a fingertip, yesterday’s everyday life becomes today’s puzzle.

What is “Millennial Survival”?

This play combines comedy and pop nostalgia, reinventing the ’90s bedroom as a giant escape game for the smartphone generation. On stage, a narrator scrutinizes every misstep of a true Gen Z native thrust into the ruthless mechanics of a pre-digital world. To return to the modern world, 22-year-old Léo must navigate forgotten objects, from cassette players to fax machines.

Without ever pointing fingers at anyone’s habits, this show brings all generations together around a surprising challenge: surviving when the Internet can no longer help you.

Beyond the comedy, it’s a captivating 70-minute adventure driven at a breakneck pace by a high-energy acting duo. Faced with these vintage puzzles, a little help from the audience now and then comes in handy to unravel the mystery of an old Walkman or a stubborn cable.

Millennials recognize the gestures of yesteryear, while Gen Z discovers fascinating mechanisms. And as the tapes play and messages are uncovered, these objects eventually tell a story: Léo gradually discovers the young man his father once was, leading to a finale imbued with poignant human warmth.
