Do you often take Line 4? On April 20, you may need to change your plans… The line will be closed between the Barbès-Rochechouart and Châtelet stations until May 1… This will make travel even more difficult for passengers.
Paris: Metro Line 4 closed on part of its route
From April 20 through May 1, Line 4 will not serve stations between Barbès-Rochechouart and Châtelet. Specifically, Gare du Nord, Gare de l’Est, Château d’Eau, Strasbourg-Saint-Denis, Réaumur-Sébastopol, Étienne Marcel, and Les Halles will not be served for 12 days.

This is because track equipment upgrades require the closure of this section, which is used by thousands of passengers every day. While this operation is certainly inconvenient, it is essential to ensure the safety of Parisians in the futureas well as the reliability of the network. If you are affected, four replacement bus lines will be deployed to support traffic throughout this disruption, even during peak hours. The RATP recommends that passengers plan their trips in advance during this period, for example by leaving home earlier to avoid overcrowding.
And if you thought Line 4 would be spared from construction after this period, we’re afraid we’ll have to disappoint you. The line will be disrupted again this summer, for 18 days, from July 6 to 24. Service will be suspended between Les Halles and Vavin, and major stations such as Montparnasse-Bienvenue, Châtelet, and Odéon…
