A monumental retrospective on Matisse at the Grand Palais

Spring will be celebrated in Paris! After the Centre Pompidou closed for renovations, the Grand Palais will host a huge Matisse retrospective next March, retracing the last 10 years of his long career as a painter. A key figure in Fauvism and modern art, he was also an excellent draftsman, engraver, and sculptor. It was as he approached his 80th birthday that the artist reinvented himself by experimenting more with cut-out gouache. His works are colorful, decorative, and vibrant, transcending painting, which always remained at the heart of his art.

Through this wonderful exhibition, you will discover the work of the last 13 years of his life, including remarkable works such as the masterful series ofInteriors of Vence, as well as his most famous cut-out gouache creations such as The Sadness of the King, Zulma, The Creole Dancer, and of course Blue Nudes. This highly intimate journey into the creative process behind his unique art will make you feel as if you are visiting his studio. Please note that late-night openings will be scheduled on Fridays until 10 p.m.
