The hot topic of Paris Saint-Germain’s next stadium finally seems to have found its epilogue. Indeed, the club’s directors appear to have set their sights on the town of Massy after visiting several sites in the Paris region. The Essonne town is set to be the future home of the super stadium for the club with 12 French league titles to its name.
Where will PSG play after the Parc des Princes?
The future is looking brighter (or darker, depending on your perspective), concerning PSG’s stadium in the years to come. Indeed, the club’s loyal fans are set to live out their final seasons at the Parc des Princes, barring any new developments. A few days ago, Anne Hidalgo, guest on C à Vous, revealed that she had turned down a €38 million offer from PSG to buy the stadium in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, when her teams were putting the price at between €200 and €300 million. A cold shower for all lovers of the legendary stadium.
Behind the scenes, it is said that the fate of PSG and its future stadium is already sealed. The Emir of Qatar is said to have given the club’s general manager the green light for the Massy project. After studying several sites, the Essonne town was presented as the “most solid”. As a result, a construction project costing 1 billion euros is set to go ahead. The result will be a brand-new 90,000-seat stadium, almost double the current capacity of the Parc des Princes, which is often full.
It remains to be seen how fans will react to this decision. Used to travelling to the heart of the 16th arrondissement to support their team, they will now have to travel 30 kilometers from the city center on the RER B train.
