Last Saturday, the Paris Police Prefecture made its decision! From now on, electric scooter riders will have to be properly equipped before hitting the road. They must wear a helmet and a reflective vest to ride on the streets of the capital and its inner suburbs.
The reason is quite simple: safety. In fact, in 2025 alone, 79 people riding electric scooters lost their lives… That’s 35 more fatalities than last year. Poor visibility at night greatly increases the risk for riders, who are particularly vulnerable without protective gear. Add speed to the mix, and you have all the ingredients for serious accidents…
