Summer has just ended, but between the heat of the past few months, the back-to-school rush , and the chaos in Paris last weekend with the Pope’s visit, we have to admit: we’re feeling it a bit. The days are getting shorter, the rain and gray skies are setting in, and we’re once again racing against the clock.
In the midst of all this chaos, we often forget just how good it feels to unplug. Not just scrolling through your phone at the end of the day, but getting some fresh air and experiencing a genuine moment of wonder: the kind of break that takes you back to childhood in two seconds and soothes your soul a little.
That’s exactly the effect this major musical event —coming this fall—is sure to have, as a symphony orchestra prepares to bring the most beautiful soundtracks to life on a grand scale.
On the program: fifteen songs that have enchanted several generations, from “Some Day My Prince Will Come” (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) to “Married Life” (Up), including “A Blue Dream” ( Aladdin), “Love Shines Under the Stars ” (The Lion King), and “I Want to Believe” (Tangled). You don’t need to be an expert on the classics: whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, you’re sure to find something to enjoy in these venues steeped in history:
- Near Tours, at the Château Royal de Blois, where melodies will resonate at the heart of the sumptuous residence of the kings of France, whose courtyard brings together four great eras of royal architecture.
- In Le Mans, within the majestic setting ofthe Abbaye Royale de l’Épau —founded in 1229–1230 by Queen Berengaria of Navarre, widow of Richard the Lionheart, and which has hosted one of the region’s major classical music festivals since 1982
- In Nancy, we make our way to the Grands Salons of City Hall—jewels of the 18th century—via a grand staircase featuring gilded ironwork by Jean Lamour, the artisan who also created the famous railings on Place Stanislas.

So yes, it’s not exactly just around the corner, but that’s exactly why it’s the perfect opportunity to hop on a train, treat yourself to a real break, and leave the noise of everyday life behind.
We settle in, turn off our notifications, and simply let ourselves be carried away by the power of the instruments. It’s the perfect, comforting escape to recharge our batteries and kick off the season with a touch of extra magic.
