If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s high time you did! LUMINISCENCE is quite simply the new spearhead in digital art. The concept: to restore the prestige of sacred monuments, which are often overlooked in the news. After its dazzling success during its first run in several cities across France, and with its influence spreading internationally, the sound and light show is returning to the Parisian stage. From January 23, 2026, a new chapter of L’Odyssée Céleste will begin at the Church of Saint-Eustache.
LUMINISCENCE returns to the Parisian stage with L’Odyssée Céleste
Making places of worship and sacred monuments around the world accessible (and more appealing) is the ambitious challenge that Romain Sarfati,co-founder of LOTCHI, a start-up that creates immersive 360° experiences, has taken on and successfully achieved. Combining innovation and heritage, the mastermind behind LUMINISCENCE captivates audiences with his modern concept that blends cutting-edge technology and architecture. Much more than simple video mapping, it is a true visual and auditory odyssey in the heart of one of the capital’s jewels.
Its long-awaited return to the Church of Saint-Eustache in a brand new, enhanced version is a clear response to the enthusiasm of the public and the press, whose reviews are already rave for the launch in Bordeaux:
“A blessing for creativity in all its forms.” – Le Monde
“A colorful and musical history lesson that will remain etched in memory.” – Sud-Ouest
“Breathtaking video projections awaken the sleeping soul of this architectural marvel.” – Arts in the City
A resounding success, a triumph in the making for its new edition
The first edition of LUMINISCENCE had already captivated Paris, quickly rising to the rank of cultural “hit” with its unique approach to a historic site. Spectators loved rediscovering the Gothic vaults and majesty of Saint-Eustache bathed in “magical” light from a new perspective. Reactions on social media were already calling for a sequel, and now it’s here: the long-awaited event is back, more spectacular than ever.
The show, also acclaimed in Bordeaux under the name L’Odyssée Céleste, proved its resounding success with new storytelling and a new voice—here narrated by a child to accentuate the sense of wonder—making its return to Paris a logical and eagerly awaited sequel, praised for its artistic qualities and its obvious positive impact on the cultural experience.
The Church of Saint-Eustache in a new light
The LUMINISCENCE experience highlights the rich history of Saint-Eustache. This church is a major masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, famous for its bold fusion of flamboyant Gothic and classical forms.
Its architecture is unique, combining the slender structures of Gothic architecture (such as the immense vaults) with architectural details typical of the Renaissance, such as its façade andinterior ornamentation. Built between 1532 and 1637, it has hosted major events: the baptisms of Molière and Madame de Pompadour, as well as the funerals of La Fontaine and Mirabeau.
The show pays tribute to its impressive proportions, often compared to those of a cathedral, particularly its 33-meter-high nave. It is one of the most famous monuments in Paris for its post-medieval grandeur.
Details that are creating a buzz
The show is a total work of art that does full justice to the venue. It is a 360-degree immersion, enhanced by elements that already made the first edition a success, but amplified by the enthusiasm of rediscovery. You will therefore find the same high-definition lighting effects and captivating spatial sound, which were the highlights most often cited by spectators.
Classical music blends perfectly with the lighting, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Two rooms, two atmospheres: the live choir with nine professional singers and an amateur choir of around thirty singers performing to a soundtrack recorded by the 50 musicians of the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, or the orchestra with exceptional dates and 15 additional musicians for an exclusive live version.
A second sensational part: the Celestial Odyssey
Under the sacred vaults of the Church of Saint Eustache, the audience is invited to embark on a journey of light and sound through the City of Light. For this new edition, the staging is enhanced by an original and spectacular light creation: the Nimbe, a giant, interactive circle of light nearly 3 meters in diameter, installed in the center of the church choir. An augmented video mapping experience complements the 360° projections, integrating visual effects and optical illusions in perfect synchronization with the live performances of the artists. In short, the return of LUMINISCENCE is the perfect opportunity to enjoy an experience that many regret having missed, or would like to relive for a renewed sense of wonder.
