The GuestReady platform, which specializes in rental concierge services, has just carried out a study concerning the cleanliness of accommodation rented out on Airbnb in Europe. And the least we can say is that Paris does not fare well on this subject. In fact, according to this study, the Ville Lumière even ranks among the good last! We break it all down.
Parisian rental accommodation among the dirtiest in Europe
With tens of thousands of accommodations registered on Airbnb, Paris is among the world’s most dynamic capitals in this sector. A tourism stronghold for a long time, and even more so with the arrival of the Olympic Games, the capital has seen millions of visitors flock through its doors in recent months. As such, no fewer than 114,000 listings were recorded on Airbnb in Paris during the summer period. However, a recent study by GuestReady highlights an unpleasant aspect of short-term rentals in the capital: Parisian accommodation is said to be among the dirtiest in Europe.
By sifting through several criteria, the study produced a ranking. Among the factors analyzed are of course cleanliness, but also communication, value for money and the platform’s rating criteria. To do this and form a sample, GuestReady selected the 50 most highly rated accommodations in 100 major European cities. As a result, Paris finds itself at the very bottom of this ranking, tied with Valencia in Spain and just behind Brussels and Istanbul. By contrast, the “good pupils” in terms of cleanliness are Split, Dubrovnik and Athens.
