On July 4 and 5, 2026, the Île des Impressionnistes in Chatou will host the Barbecue Fest Paris: a massive waterfront festival featuring five themed villages, two stages with closing concerts by Mézerg and Cerrone, and a chili pepper championship to spice things up.

The Île des Impressionnistes in Chatou, just a short RER (A) ride away, has always been the kind of place where Parisians came to escape Paris. Even back then, the now-legendary Maison Fournaise, painted by Renoir, was the open-air café that brought together artists and boaters seeking a bucolic getaway. Nestled in a bend of the Seine, it still evokes memories of bohemian lunches by the water.
It is on this island steeped in history that the Barbecue Fest Paris is setting up its grill for its very first Parisian edition. A first, but not a trial run: the festival already exists in Normandy, and the format is well-established. The ambition is new: to turn Chatou, for the duration of a weekend, into the French capital of barbecue.
40,000 m² of festival grounds and five villages
Don’t expect just a simple food market. The Barbecue Fest Paris is on a full-scale festival level: 40,000 m² of outdoor space, two concert stages, official competitions, and five themed villages .
Among them: Street Food BBQ (Texas brisket, Argentine parrilla, Brazilian churrasco, Korean BBQ, vegetarian options), Pimentopolis with spicy sauce tastings and the final of the Piment d’Or Championship, the French BBQ Cup: the official pitmaster competition (masters of barbecue and slow smoking), a Rock ’n’ Roll village in partnership with Harley-Davidson ( legendary motorcycles, a pop-up tattoo studio, a barber shop, a vintage shop, jam sessions, and vinyl selections), and a World Cup fan zone with a family area.
A musical lineup that breaks the mold: from Cerrone’s disco to Mézerg’s “boomboom” piano
Two stages, two days, a lineup that dares to strike a balance. Thus, the festival doesn’t separate music from food; it deliberately blends them into a single sensory experience. Here, they complement each other! So, we go from “piano boom boom” (a name coined by Mezerg —a one-man band who plays the piano, percussion, and theremin—to describe his unclassifiable musical style) on Saturday to the legendary disco of Cerrone (best known for his hit “Supernature”) on Sunday.
The Piment d’Or: A “Hot Ones”-Style Competition
This is serious business: thirty contestants are pre-selected, and the competition follows a knockout format. Heat levels range from jalapeño to Carolina Reaper, which peaks at 2,200,000 units on the Scoville scale and regularly appears in the Guinness World Records as one of the world’s hottest chili peppers. Round after round, participants who drop out are eliminated from the competition. The last one standing wins the trophy.
Beyond the entertainment, Pimentopolis spotlights France’s booming chili scene, driven by artisanal producers and independent sauce makers. It’s a true tasting village, open to both the curious and those seeking extreme sensations.
