An unusual cultural outing you can enjoy for free!
A free exhibition dedicated to sushi in Paris
Set up in the reception hall of the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris, the exhibition will trace the evolution of sushi from its origins on the Asian continent to its popularization in Japan over a thousand years ago, as well as its worldwide spread in the 20th century. Visual aids, reconstructions and videos will help visitors understand how this dish evolved, how it was shaped by urban and culinary customs over time, and why it has become a must-try dish today.
The tour will also be accompanied by resin reproductions of the main types of sushi and life-size replicas of the fish used in their preparation. Prints and videos will complete the package, as will free lectures by chefs, academics and researchers, on themes such as the French interpretation of modern sushi or the science of flavors applied to this dish. Some of the events will also explore the cultural diversity of sushi forms across Japan’s regions.
Between history, culture and gastronomy, I Love Sushi promises to show why this dish occupies a central place in Japan’s culinary identity and international influence.
