Did you think you’d seen everything in Paris? Visited everything? Think again! The City of Light still has its share of surprises… Among the most secret places, we’ve found an absolutely dazzling Haussmann palace: the Hôtel du Châtelet. Closed for renovation for the past two years, it’s finally reopening to the public (and to visitors). And you’ll even be able to visit it for free in September!
A sumptuous Haussmann palace, totally unknown in Paris
But who would have thought that such a jewel could be hidden away in Paris? Located on Place du Châtelet, this immense 3,000 m² Haussmann palace has been home to the Paris Chamber of Notaries since 1856. A masterpiece of the 19th century, this magnificent edifice has seen crowned heads and world leaders pass through its halls: from revolutionaries to eminent members of the clergy.

Entirely financed by Paris notaries, the Hôtel du Châtelet has been closed for two years for restoration work. A titanic undertaking, it was necessary to respect the period architecture while modernizing the premises! But you’ll soon be able to visit this sublime palace… The Hôtel du Châtelet, usually inaccessible to the public, will open its doors to visitors on Saturday, September 20, during the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days).
