Did you think you’d be able to ride the new metro lines soon? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a little longer… In fact, the opening of Lines 16 and 17 will be delayed by at least one year…
Two Grand Paris Express lines delayed…
While Line 18 will likely begin service this December, the same cannot be said for Lines 16 and 17. The Société des Grands Projets has confirmed that they will be delayed until the fall of 2028 and 2029, respectively!
Specifically, Line 16, which will connect Saint-Denis-Pleyel and Noisy-Champs, will open its first section in the fall of 2028, with the remainder following in 2029. Line 17, meanwhile, will be fully operational in 2030! This delay is bound to disappoint commuters, particularly those on the RER B Nord, who will have to be patient before they can take advantage of this alternative.
But why such a delay? These highly ambitious projects are ultimately taking much longer than expected, whether in terms of the lines’ routes, the surrounding infrastructure, or future connections….
For now, only Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express is scheduled to open next December.
